On this members-only Untapped Cities Insiders tour, go inside the stunning Landmark Loew’s Jersey theater, a gilded and opulent late 1920s movie theater — one of five Wonder theaters Loews built in 1929-30 in the New York City metro region. This behind the scenes tour will be led by staff of Friends of the Loew’s, a the not-for-profit, all volunteer arts and entertainment organization that saved the theater from demolition and maintains this space.
You’ll see and learn about the architecture, design and history of the Loew’s Jersey theater, discover the Robert Morton ‘Wonder Morton’ pipe organ that is still in operation, go on the stage and backstage, and take in the lavish entrance hall, auditorium and hallways of the theater with its sumptuous original details. The tour will be led by a founding member of Friend of the Loew’s.
