An Almanac for New York 2023 with Susan Gail Johnson

New York City is back and better than ever! Susan Gail Johnson, author of An Almanac of New York City for the Year 2023, will share inside tips for residents of the city and visitors alike to discover—or rediscover—the pleasures that are so unique to New York

While doing research for the Almanac—which is packed with day-by-day listings for concerts and museum exhibitions, foodie and literary happenings, sporting events, celestial phenomena, and more around the five boroughs—Susan uncovered events to appeal to a vast range of interests. She also dug up historical tidbits that offer a unique perspective on the city over the years. Whether their preference is for high-profile or off-the-beaten-path events, indoors or outdoors, in this presentation Susan will share essential information to help attendees curate their own New York experience:

  • Surprising discoveries she made while researching the book
  • Little-known happenings in each of the five boroughs
  • Quintessential New York events happening this fall and in 2023
  • Fascinating nuggets of NYC history

From pumpkin picking at Historic Richmond Town’s Decker Farm this October and The Art Show to Benefit the Henry Street Settlement at the Park Avenue Armory in November to such wide-ranging 2023 events as Yo-Yo Ma performing Elgar’s Cello Concerto at Lincoln Center and the Coney Island Beard and Moustache Competition, Susan Gail Johnson guides us around the five boroughs to make the most of all the city has to offer.
