Talk the Secrets of Madison Square Park

Our Madison Square Park in-person walk was so popular we decided to turn it into a virtual talk so join Chief Experience Officer, Justin Rivers as you virtually stroll around the secrets of one NYC’s oldest public gathering spaces.

  • Discover the story behind the monument to New York City’s first public Christmas Tree.
  • Uncover a historic tree in the park with a special history rooted in the park’s name.
  • Learn about the park’s role in the invention of baseball.
  • Here about a hidden mausoleum right next to the park which is one of only two in the whole city.

About the event:

The park was named for James Madison, the fourth president of the United States and it’s also the start of the famous avenue with the same name. It has been an urban public place since 1686 and officially became a public park in 1847 and the hotbed of Gilded Age goings-on since the very beginning of the era.  It has also been home to some of the most famous art installations in New York’s history, including the torch of Lady Liberty.
