  • Hear how the site was transformed into the nation’s largest federally subsidized artists complex in 1970
  • Take in sweeping views of Greenwich Village and the Hudson from a balcony on the 11th floor
  • Uncover the history of the Westbeth section of the old West Side Freight Line, the remainder of which became the High Line park
  • See artwork by prominent residents such as the late puppeteer Ralph Lee
  • Explore the current show on view at the Westbeth Art Gallery

About the event:

This tour of Westbeth Artists Housing will offer the opportunity to visit historic buildings constructed between 1860 and 1930. A long-time resident while give an Insider’s perspective on life inside this West Village landmark. Guests will see parts of the building rarely open to the general public!

About Erin Quinn Purcell

Erin Quinn Purcell has been a mainstay in New York’s downtown theatre scene for over 30 years. She was one of the founding members of the critically acclaimed adobe theatre company, and participated as an actor, writer and/or director in countless productions. Credits include: Duet! A Romantic Fable (Broadway Play Publishing) The Fiona Apple Kwanzaa Explosion (PSNBC) the musical A Fish Story (recipient of a Jonathan Larson Foundation award) and the Russ Meyer inspired Go-Go Kitty, Go! (Outstanding Play, 2005 New York Fringe Festival).

Erin is currently working with the Tony award winning creators of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Urinetown on a new musical, Iceboy!, starring Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman.

She serves as President of The Westbeth Artists Residents Council.
