In honor of the 40th anniversary of Battery Park City, Untapped Cities Insiders are invited to explore the built-from-scratch neighborhood which was built on 92-acres of Manhattan’s southern tip. This special tour will be led by the Battery Park City Development Project Lead Brian Shea of Cooper Robertson. Shea has been part of the project since its inception in 1979 and knows every inch of the site. On this tour, Insiders will learn the history of the community and see how it transformed atop land created by dirt and rock from the excavation of the original World Trade Center and other Manhattan projects. Battery Park City now encompasses over 30 acres of public land, residential buildings and world class retail and commercial spaces like Brookfield Place and the World Financial Center.
