This week’s #untappedcities Instagram “Pic” of the Week goes to Instagrammer @frankofonic for this shot from the OHNY Hudson River Architecture tour. We were on the tour too, and compiled an article of top architectural sites to see from the Hudson River, like Frank Gehry’s IAC building, Jean Nouvel’s residences, the new Whitney Museum under construction, the Palazzo Chuppi, Riverside Church, Grant’s Tomb, and 1 World Trade Center.

From this shot on the Hudson we can see Lower Manhattan’s short but sweet skyline creating a wall against the harsh winds of the busy harbor, each building curving and allowing these trade winds the opportunity of detour. Of course, there’s also the Frank Gehry’s New York by Gehry, which looks like it couldn’t exactly decide which guidelines to adhere to, while the wind twisted it to a warped steel column.
