We’re now accepting applications for our Fall 2020 internships, our 24th internship class here at Untapped New York. Our internships, since mid-March have been 100% virtual. We’re looking for some bright, motivated writers, photographers and social media mavens to join the team as interns. Our interns get to do it all: writing published articles from day one, managing their own columns, and exploring the city. As an Untapped New York intern, you can learn how a web magazine and tour company really works, pitch your own ideas, have an article published within your first week, and, of course, re-discover the city you love.
Editorial Internship: The editorial interns will work directly with Untapped New York’ Founder and its Managing Editor on determining the publication schedule, proposing new articles, and writing articles. Our editorial interns work on a full range of pieces from features, news articles, to list articles. As an editorial intern, you will also gain experience with writing for search engine optimization and using social media to promote your own work and the work of the site. You don’t need to be a journalism major, as long as you’re a strong writer and can come ready with ideas for content.
Photography Internship: Photography interns work on assignment across all of our businesses: editorial, tours and memberships. You will be out and about in the city documenting current events, press walkthroughs, doing street photography, and more.
Communications/Social Media Internship: The communications/social media intern work on social media for our online magazine, as well as a the development and marketing of new experiences for both Untapped New York Tours and Untapped New York Insiders. The intern will activate our social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter with goals of increasing engagement, followers and balancing the multiple objectives of the company, learn about newsletter marketing, and more.
