Landmarks in New York Light Up Blue and Gold To Honor Flattening of Coronavirus Curve
Yesterday, Governor Cuomo announced that a number of landmarks throughout New York State will be lit blue and gold and will project “New York tough” to honor the efforts of New Yorkers to flatten the curve. As of today, every region of the state is in at least phase one of reopening, with New York City entering phase one today. In New York City, new cases have hovered around 600 per day, while deaths are around 50 per day. Statewide on June 6, there were 781 new positive cases. As part of reopening, subways and buses will be operating at 100% and 75% of total capacity respectively, and many retail businesses can reopen for curbside or in-store pickup or drop off only.
“We have come a long way in the fight against COVID-19 and a lot of people have suffered to get here, but what we have done together was extraordinary,” Governor Cuomo said. “Forget flattening the curve of the virus – we bent the curve – and New Yorkers should be proud of their accomplishment. In light of that, we are going to highlight the landmarks across the state in blue and gold in honor of our New Yorkers, because we are New York tough, smart, united, disciplined, and loving.”
The following buildings will be lit up in blue and gold include:
