With peak foliage season upon us, a cruise up the Hudson River offers a fun way to see the kaleidoscope of colors that autumn brings. Untapped New York is excited to partner with Classic Harbor Line to present boat trips in and around the waters of New York City and the Hudson Valley, where you can see New York’s vibrant fall colors in all their splendor. This weekend, November 13th through the 15th, is your last chance to hop aboard for a  fall foliage cruise before holiday river tours begin later in the month. It’s the perfect time to set sail as leaves are at peak colors!

Classic Harbor Line tours are conducted on modern vessels inspired by historic yachts and schooners. Built by Scarano Boat Building of Albany, New York, these ships pair twenty-first-century amenities with classic style. The 80-foot Schooner America 2.0 is a sailboat modeled after the winner of the first “America’s Cup” of 1851, Schooner America. One of its modern upgrades is its eco-friendly design propelled by a large battery bank. The luxurious, mahogany-trimmed Yacht Manhattan and Manhattan II, are inspired by the glamour of the 1920s. You can take your pick of the nine-boat fleet that also includes the charming yacht Kingston, and wooden schooner Adirondack. This weekend’s fall foliage cruise will take place aboard the Manhattan yachts!

There’s plenty of space for all aboard, as social distancing protocols are maintained in compliance with New York City health and safety regulations (masks are required). Many of the boats feature both outdoor and indoor seating, both with clear views of the scenery surrounding you. To help keep you warm on the windy waters, guests are treated to a complimentary fall-themed hot beverage to enjoy while taking in views you can only get from being on the water.

While the fall foliage cruises are coming to an end this weekend, there are a variety of different trips to choose from including narrated architectural cruises and upcoming holiday lights tours! On a recent weekend, members of the Untapped New York team went along on a Classic Harbor Line cruise focused on the infrastructure of New York. An expert from the AIA provided descriptions of the bridges, water systems, and transportation lines and terminals that shaped the city’s skyline and shoreline. Disembarking from Pier 62, at Chelsea Piers, we were treated to stunning panoramas of New York as our craft, the Manhattan II, ventured across the Hudson and East Rivers and Upper New York Bay. We saw landmarks from the George Washington Bridge to the Hell Gate Bridge and everything in between. We spotted classics sites such as the Empire State Building and the city’s newest skyscraper, One Vanderbilt.
