Things to Do This Week in NYC: Nov. 27 - Dec. 4
Discover all the ways you can rediscover NYC!
On September 7th, the innovative community supported agriculture program Local Roots NYC will launch The Good Festival at Brooklyn Fire Proof in Bushwick. This is a festival full of local food, shared books, and music by Brooklyn-based bands. Local Roots recently won the NYC Small Business Solutions and Mayor Bloomberg’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
The festival will hold several workshops and cooking demos by local chefs and artisans. The band Shilpa Ray and Her Happy Hookers headline along with musical performances by Gunfight!, Milk Dick, Army Men, Crazy Pills, Household, Heavy Birds, Win Win, Hippy. People are encouraged to bring food-related books to the event and swap them with others attendees. Local Roots NYC plans to donate non-swapped books to Housing Works Bookstore. Also, a 12-foot inflatable beehive will be on site. Inside the hive, a curated collection of events will take place.
Local Roots NYC provides over 400 NYC residents with local, sustainably grown food and specialty items from small Brooklyn producers. Sign up for their fall Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) season of events all throughout Brooklyn. CSA shares range in price from $8 and up.
