Tomorrow, March 20, celebrate spring (even if it doesn’t feel like it) with Macaron Day, an annual tradition started by Pierre Hermé in association with Relais Desserts wherein patisseries across Paris give away macarons to support a cure for cystic fibrosis. All they ask is that patrons leave a small donation in exchange for a macaron. Take this opportunity to try a new flavor like the absinthe macaron at Arnaud Larher or savor one of your favorites. This year’s participants include: Sadaharu Aoki, Laurent Duchêne, Pierre Hermé, Jean-Paul Hévin, Arnaud Larher, Christophe Roussel and Dalloyau. Thanks to François Payard, Macaron Day is also happening tomorrow in New York City, where a portion of the day’s macaron proceeds will be donated to City Harvest, the world’s first food rescue organization dedicated to feeding the City’s hungry men, women and children. There are over a dozen participants in New York, including François Payard, Bouchon Bakery, Epicerie Boulud, Macaron Café, Bisous Ciao Macarons, Macaron Parlour and more.
