Riverside Drive is the 5th Avenue of Manhattan’s west side. Born in the Gilded Age, the parkway is lined with fascinating monuments (including the first in New York City to depict a female historical figure), gorgeous pre-war apartment buildings that sprang from a development boom in the early 1900s, and of course, the bucolic Riverside Park which runs along the Hudson River.
Secrets of Riverside Drive Tour
On this tour, you’ll learn how Riverside Drive evolved over the past 100+ years from a scenic parkway designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted, the landscape architect of Central Park, to what it is today. You’ll uncover the stories behind some of the most famous monuments, like Grant’s Tomb (which used to be the terminus of Riverside Drive) and the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Out of all of the stunning architecture, you’ll spot one of New York City’s narrowest buildings and the tallest structure on Riverside Drive. Your expert licensed tour guide will show you secrets that most Upper West Side residents are unaware of!
Public tours of Riverside Drive start in October and space is limited, so reserve your spot now!
