NYC Skyline Sculpture Made With Iron From Twin Towers at 9/11 Memorial Preview Site

Rafe Greco, an NYC iron-worker using only a cutting torch, created a sculpture that reunites the Twin Towers with the New York City skyline. The four inch thick sculpture – using iron from the fallen towers –  is among the permanent collection of photos, artifacts, personal effects, memorabilia, art tributes and more shown at the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum preview site.

The use of iron from the towers themselves, serve as an emotional tribute to not only the fallen structure, but the endearing spirits of those effected by their collapse. The tragedy, which happened twelve and a half years ago was done to disrupt our way of life. The outcome, however, has been the complete opposite. NYC has endured, renewed and created something beautiful out of the tragedy that was 9/11. That sculpture is another reminder that the events of that day will not be forgotten, nor should they be.

The preview site, located on 20 Vesey Street, is open daily from 9 am to 8 pm, reopened after Hurricane Sandy this past Friday.
