Vintage 1970s Photos Show Lost Sites of NYC's Lower East Side
A quest to find his grandmother's birthplace led Richard Marc Sakols on a mission to capture his changing neighborhood on film.
Yesterday, today and tomorrow from 5:30-9:30pm, Paris hosts city-wide heures heureses (French for Happy Hours) with 2€ gourmet bites. There’s a wide range of participating bistros, bars, restaurants and gourmet food stores. Pick up your heures heureuses passport at the Hôtel de Ville and get tasting!
There are twelve ‘balades gourmandes’ in the various quarters of Paris. You can follow La P’tite Planète Barbès, which will lead you to try Thai mini tartares with coriander rice at La Popette du 18, baby arepas at Bululu, nocturnal cappuccinos at Café Lomi, and more. Or maybe you prefer the offerings in the Marais, like mushroom tacos at La Candelaria and lemon basil sorbet at the Épicerie Italienne in the Marché des Enfants Rouges.
There are routes to follow through the Passage des Panoramas in the 2nd arrondissement, through Clichy and Les Batignolles, the Faubourg Saint-Denis, Oberkampf and more. See all the ‘balades gourmandes’ here. The passport is free, but without it you won’t be able to access the 2€ deals. You can pick one up at the Hôtel de Ville from 10am-7pm, in any of the mairies in Paris’s 20 arrondissements from 8am-5pm or from any of the participating establishments.
