Penn Station just keeps getting fancier by the month – from the new West End Concourse to the host of fancy new retail that has popped up. Shake Shack is one of these and on Monday, the burger joint will launch a new beer just for Penn Station – the “Delayed at Shake Shack’s Penn Station” beer brewed by Blue Point. According to amNY, the launch of the beer by the Long Island Brewery will come with free Shake Shack burgers for the first 100 who buy the pilsner beer.
The humorous beer name is a nod to the “Summer of Hell,” referring to the Amtrak infrastructure construction affecting the tracks at Penn Station and the general delays notorious to Penn Station. Blue Point’s President Todd Ahsmann said in a statement that the new beer, with hints of apple and citrus, “has just the right amount of drinkability with a touch of bitterness.”
The beer can features the familiar colors of the Long Island Railroad train lines with DELAYED signs, just like on the main departures board.
