Part of “Postcards from Google Earth” by Clement Valla
The international auction house Phillips has teamed with the folks at Tumblr to host an exciting online auction called Paddles On!, revolving around the art of the next generation of digital artists. Recognizing the growing respect digital artists have gained over the years in the arts community, the auction which takes place on October 10, 2013, is helping to not only promote the digital movement, but also give something back to the community. 20% of proceeds will be donated to Rhizome (a leading nonprofit that has supported the movement since 1996).
The auction will feature the work of 18 artists who are exploring digital technologies as both a tool and a medium through their work with websites, software, prints, videos, sculptures, digital paintings, animations, and interactive design. There will be an exhibit open to the public running from October 5th through October 12th at the Phillips gallery at 450 Park Avenue, New York. But, if you would like to sample some of the work you may do so currently on Paddle 8‘s website (the auctions digital platform provider).
