As you may have read, we’re doing a crowdsourced scavenger hunt on Sunday using our Google Glass. You can participate by submitting location suggestions via comment below or tweeting/Instagramming with the hashtag #untappedcities. We want to know what your favorite obscure place in NYC is, most interesting person, favorite hole in the wall to eat at, or just a place to sit and reflect in the busy city.

Untapped Cities editor Aby Sam Thomas submitted this find in Prospect Park he discovered via CityRoom. The enormous beech tree was struck down by lightning and Hurricane Sandy sealed its fate. On October 10th, Jennifer Bartley placed small white flags reading “I Miss This Tree” and a composition book for people to write odes to the tree. We won’t write any more about it because we’re going to document and research the tree when we get there using Google Glass, but this gives one example of the kind of things we’re hoping to find on our hunt.

 You can also join us in the scavenger hunt! Submit your email below and we’ll send you information on meet up place and time this Sunday at 11am.

( function () { const contact_forms = document.getElementsByClassName('contact-form'); for ( const form of contact_forms ) { form.onsubmit = function() { const buttons = form.getElementsByTagName('button'); for( const button of buttons ) { button.setAttribute('disabled', true); } } } } )();
