Vintage 1970s Photos Show Lost Sites of NYC's Lower East Side
A quest to find his grandmother's birthplace led Richard Marc Sakols on a mission to capture his changing neighborhood on film.
In a very touristy street between Abbesses and Sacré-Coeur in Montmartre there used to be a famous mojito bar called “l’Escale” at 3 Frères – La Vieuville. A 4 by 9 meter wooden wall took its place following a large fire in 2010, becoming a rotating wall of street art. The wall changes its skin every week, sometimes twice a week, like an unofficial Le Mur. Paris illustrator Guillaume Lagane documented the changes in street art from March to September 2011, recognizing work from the graphic artist HEC (Haut-En-Couleur, a French street artists association).
