Vintage 1970s Photos Show Lost Sites of NYC's Lower East Side
A quest to find his grandmother's birthplace led Richard Marc Sakols on a mission to capture his changing neighborhood on film.
One of my favorite places to eat in Chinatown in a Vietnamese place, Thai Son, on Baxter Street. My boyfriend doesn’t live in NYC anymore so quick Saturday lunch trips aren’t as frequent as they used to be. Now I find myself drooling just thinking about their fried pork spring rolls, #24 on the menu (i think), and noodles, #49. The rice vermicelli noodles are so light and are served at room temperature. The mint, cucumbers, lettuce, and bean sprouts mixed in are so refreshing. I’ve given up asking for them to leave off the peanuts, they always seem to forget, oh well I learned to love them.
