At the beginning of the month, we launched an Instagram/Twitter photo competition to win a one month pass on the East River Ferry using the hashtags #untappedny and #eastriverferry. You can see a feed of entries on the Untapped New York live page.
The winner was selected based on submission of the most “untapped” photo, meaning we wanted to rediscover New York through your eyes. We received over 200 incredible entries from the 5 boroughs and although we can only give out one East River Ferry prize, we’ve decided to showcase some of our favorites. We’ll give out an Audience Pick award (set of Downtown Doodler postcards) based on popularity in our East River Ferry contest Facebook Album.
Most Untapped Photo: Winner of One Month Pass on the East River Ferry
Reuben Hernandez submitted this photograph of a house in Williamsburg made of 6 shipping containers and insulated with NASA ceramic infused paint. We love what the owner has done with the materials, enabling balconies, natural light and patio spaces.
Most Beautiful
Patrick McInerney submitted this beautiful photograph from the East River Ferry, with a hazy portal onto the Manhattan city skyline. Everything about this image is perfect, from the composition to the contrast in colors.
