Timeless Butterflies + Ase: Afro Frequencies at Artechouse
In Timeless Butterflies, colorful pixels form a bursting bouquet of floral imagery. Vibrant pinks, blues, purples, and yellows envelope viewers in 360 degrees of mesmerizing patterns. As you watch the scenes transform before your eyes, you’ll also notice beautiful, and larger-than-life, butterflies fluttering by.
In addition to Timeless Butterflies, guests to Artechouse NYC will also see Ase: Afro Frequencies with digital art by London-based artist Vince Fraser and poetry from ursula rucker. Aṣẹ, pronounced “AH-shay,” translates to “So will it be,” a positive affirmation derived from the Yoruba people of West Africa. The project is a collaboration between Fraser and rucker to honor the Black experience with powerful words, moving music, and mesmerizing imagery.
Both shows are on view inside a hidden art space below Chelsea Market that once served as a boiler room. This two-part cinematic experience closes on Labor Day. Get tickets here or join our Insiders on August 28th!
