New Film Shows How Art Brings Life to Green-Wood Cemetery
Discover how the living and the dead make Green-Wood Cemetery a vibrant part of NYCs cultural scene!
On April 14th at 2 pm, members of Untapped Cities Insiders will get a special behind the scenes tour of the Landmark Loew’s Jersey theater, a gilded and opulent late 1920s movie theater — one of five Wonder theaters Loews built in 1929-30 in the New York City metro region. We’ve worked with the staff of Friends of the Loew’s, a the not-for-profit, all volunteer arts and entertainment organization that saved the theater from demolition and maintains this space, to gain access to the insider spots that make this theater tick.
You’ll see and learn about the architecture, design and history of the Loew’s Jersey theater, discover the Robert Morton ‘Wonder Morton’ pipe organ that is still in operation, go on the stage and backstage, and take in the lavish entrance hall, auditorium and hallways of the theater with its sumptuous original details. The tour will be led by a founding member of Friend of the Loew’s.
Tour is FREE for Untapped Cities Insiders and registration begins today at 12 PM EST.
