Discover where New York began and see what is left of Dutch New Amsterdam in today’s lower Manhattan at a special virtual talk with Untapped New York’s Chief Experience Officer Justin Rivers! Guests at this experience on Wednesday, October 8th will hear about New York’s founding myths and facts, guided by the first map of New York City. You will trace the original street grid of Manhattan in 1667 while uncovering the many hidden Dutch relics south of Wall Street. A few of the notable finds include the foundations of New York City’s first City Hall (which was also a tavern!), the long-forgotten oyster pasty cannon (which is the oldest European artifact in the city!), the original battery wall and so much more! You can even reach out and physically touch some of the forgotten relics on our in-person Dutch New Amsterdam walking tour.
