Get an inside look at Housing Density: From Tenements to Towers, the newest exhibit at the Skyscraper Museum with the guidance of gallery manager Josh Vogel. Density today remains a hyper-charged concept – a negative to many who equate it with crowding – or a positive for those who claim it creates more vibrant and affordable urban life. To help give you an understanding of both sides, the new exhibition is packed with three-dimensional diagrams, graphs, building plans, photographs and other documents, which provide a comprehensive view of the issues surrounding density from many perspectives. Caveat specializes in educational nightlife and this show will feature a lineup of female storytellers, comedians, and historians who will share the stories of some of the greatest women the world has ever known. This month, the theme of the show is “Podcast Party” as host Molly Gaebe and a fantastic lineup of performers present favorite stories from past shows, play games, and pour one out for the women history refused to remember. Inside Look at the Library for the Performing Arts’ New Exhibit “Archive in Motion”

This year the Jerome Robbins Dance Division of the New York Public Library celebrates its 75th anniversary. To honor this occasion, the division is hosting a brand new exhibition, Archive in Motion: 75 Years of the Jerome Robbins Dance Division, at the Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. The exhibition charts the division’s history and the establishment of international dance archival practices through the display of significant items from its collections. Untapped Cities Insiders are invited to get an inside look at the items on display which have been pulled from the largest and most comprehensive archive in the world devoted to the documentation of dance. Insiders will be guided by Linda Murray, the curator of both the exhibition and head of the Jerome Robbins Dance Division, who will share her insider knowledge! Learn more here!

  • Explore the over 100-year-old contagious disease hospital, which has been abandoned since 1954
  • See an exhibition by the world-renowned artist JR, who has placed life-sized historic photographs of Ellis Island immigrants on interior walls of the hospital buildings
  • Visit the Laundry Building, where 3000+ pieces of laundry were washed and sanitized daily
  • Discover the kitchen, autopsy room and other usually off-limits places
  • Get special access inside the original morgue and long abandoned FBI offices

The abandoned Ellis Island Hospital complex—once the standard for United States medical care (and later transformed to the FBI headquarters when the island served as a detention center)—has been left to decay for nearly 60 years. Now, Untapped Cities is bringing you behind-the-scenes for a unique exploration of the abandoned facility; on this experience, you’ll visit the contagious disease wards, the autopsy rooms and have exclusive access to places usually closed to the public.
