The book is an exciting history of Manhattan’s most notorious apartment building and the famous tenants who lived there such as John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Fun fact: Lena Dunham generated a lot of buzz for the book last month when she posted a picture of her copy on Instagram calling it her “newly-minted prized possession”

Birmingham’s chronicle of the famed Dakota apartments in New York City differs from the recent book The Dakota: A History of the World’s Best-Known Apartment Building in offering precisely some of the “juicy details” that historian Andrew Alpern deliberately left out of his version.
