Untapped New York Insiders get free access to all The Lit Salon livestreams! Join us for the inaugural session of this brand new candlelit, literary salon inside the historic townhome of Untapped New York’s founder Michelle Young. In this first session, Michelle with talk with author Michael Wolraich about his new non-fiction book about a jazz age murder that rattled NYC. There will be live music and a Q&A.

February 10th – Tour the Home of Alexander Hamilton

Step inside the only home owned by founding father Alexander Hamilton on a ranger-led tour! This tour grants visitors access to the historically restored rooms of the house where the Hamilton family used to entertain. The rooms are filled with items of the time period and original to the home. You’ll also have the chance to explore, at your leisure, the public areas of this National Memorial site including a theater, exhibition space, and gift shop.

February 14th – The Lost Opera Houses of NYC Virtual Talk

Spend Valentine’s lunch at the opera as Untapped New York’s Chief Experience Officer Justin Rivers takes viewers on a tour of the lost opera houses of NYC! Learn about the original Met Opera House which had a scandalous start in the Gilded Age, the very first opera house that’s now a fort, a small opera house on the Bowery that sat abandoned for years, and more glamorous entertainment venues that have been forgotten by time!

February 15th – Secret Brooklyn Virtual Book Talk

Join Untapped New York’s founder Michelle Young for a virtual talk hosted by Save Ellis Island where she’ll share hidden gems of Brooklyn from the unusual guidebook, Secret Brooklyn. This book contains 120 off-the-beaten-path sites and experiences from across the borough, from the hobbit doors of Dennet Place, the oldest subway tunnel in the world, the world’s smallest Torah, and a rooftop vineyard.

February 15th – Behind the Scenes at Perelman Performing Arts Center

Join Executive Director Khady Kamara Nunez for an insider’s tour of the newly opened Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC), a cultural keystone in the master plan to rebuild the World Trade Center site. You will be guided through PAC NYC’s 129,000 square-foot building including the lobby, restaurant, bar, terrace, and flexible theater spaces each brilliantly designed to create a range of unique experiences for audiences and be fully flexible to artists’ creative visions.

February 20th  – “Remarkable Women” Tour at The Museum at Eldridge Street

Join artist Adrienne Ottenberg for an exclusive tour of her exhibit at the Museum at Eldridge Street, titled On the Lower East Side: Twenty-Eight Remarkable Women…and One Scoundrel. Throughout the historic Eldridge Street Synagogue, Ottenberg’s portraits printed on silk or cotton banners float over a tableau of street maps depicting the Lower East Side at the turn of the century. On this tour, follow the artist through her exhibit, and meet the 29 women featured in her work.

February 21st – The Lit Salon: Beverly Hills Spy

Join author Ronald Drabkin for a talk on his debut book, Beverly Hills Spy: The Double Agent-War Hero Who Helped Japan Attack Pearl Harbor, which reveals the unbelievable and untold story of Frederick Rutland—a debonair British WWI hero, flying ace, fixture of Los Angeles society, and friend of Golden Age Hollywood stars—who flipped to become a spy for Japan in the lead-up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The aviation-themed Seaplane cocktail will be served as a welcome cocktail and a musical performance by The Brownstone Trio, will open the event, followed by an hour of conversation and audience Q&A hosted by author and journalist Michelle Young. A book signing and mingling with complimentary drinks will conclude the event.

February 24th – Tour the Center for Brooklyn History and Othmer Library

Discover the Center for Brooklyn History! Housed in an 1881 landmark building designed by architect George W. Post, CBH is a research library, community hub, and a center for education, culture, and public programming. Formerly the Brooklyn Historical Society, CBH became part of the Brooklyn Public Library in 2020. The tour includes architectural highlights and a look at the current exhibition, “Brooklyn Is…”.

February 287th – Last Chance Tour of Frick Madison

Experience Frick Madison, the temporary home of The Frick Collection, during its final week. During this private tour, a museum educator will guide you through the galleries and share insights into the installation of the Frick’s distinguished Old Master paintings and outstanding examples of European sculpture and decorative arts within the unique setting of the Breuer Building.

February 29th – Tour of Beatrix Potter: Drawn to Nature at the Morgan Library

Creator of unforgettable animal characters like Peter Rabbit, Jeremy Fisher, and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, the beloved children’s book author and illustrator Beatrix Potter (1866–1943) rooted her fiction in the natural world. This exhibition brings together artwork, books, manuscripts, and artifacts from several institutions in the United Kingdom. Paired with the Morgan’s exceptional collection of her picture letters, this exhibition traces how Potter’s innovative blend of scientific observation and imaginative storytelling shaped some of the world’s most popular children’s books.
