June 2nd – Sail Aboard the 1885 Schooner Pioneer with the South Street Seaport Museum

Take in magnificent views of the New York City skyline on a 2-hour sail aboard a historic 19th-century vessel from the fleet of the South Street Seaport Museum! June 5th – Ride 1920s Attractions at Playland Park

On this tour of the 96-year-old Playland Park, you’ll learn about its history and explore its latest attractions with Barbara Davis, Co-Director of the Westchester County Historical Society! Celebrate this milestone with High Line historian Annik LaFarge as she shares the story of how an innovative elevated railroad built to solve a critical problem in the 1930s became a world-class park that inspired cities around the world! In this live, virtual talks, viewers will admire some of the hundreds of photographs featured in LaFarge’s book, On the High Line: A Definitive Guide, uncover hidden gems along its path, and learn about the rich and varied history that surrounds it.

June 12th – The Underbelly of the Gilded Age: Notorious Sites from Cleopatra’s Dagger

Join Carole Lawrence, author of the historical thriller Cleopatra’s Dagger, for a virtual tour of the dark side of the Gilded Age! Find out what went on inside the crowded rat pits of the South Street Seaport, the concert saloons of the Bowery, and the streets of the infamous Five Points. Using Lawrence’s fictional mystery as a guide, you’ll see the extreme dichotomies of life in Gilded Age New York City.

June 13th – See Inside a Flight Simulator at Vaughn College of Aeronautics

Step inside the hangar, classrooms, and workshops at the 91-year-old Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology! As you stroll through campus, you’ll see historic aircraft that students learn maintenance on, view a flight simulator that pilots-to-be utilize to accumulate training hours, sit in the seat of an air traffic controller in Vaughn’s training lab, and enjoy views from the Tower at the College with a front-row seat of the runway at LaGuardia Airport.

June 15th – Private Guided Tour of Lost New York Exhibit

Explore more than 90 paintings, photographs, objects, and lithographs that represent the lost buildings, vistas, modes of transportation, and communities of New York City at the latest exhibition inside the New-York Historical Society, Lost New York. Forgotten landmarks like the original Met Opera Hous and the stunning Crystal Palace come back to life in this exhibit where you’ll hear accounts of bygone NYC from real New Yorkers.

June 19th – The Lit Salon: When Women Ran Fifth Avenue Book Launch Party Livestream

This event is an intimate literary salon set to candlelight inside Maison Brooklyn, the townhouse of author and journalist Michelle Young, the founder of Untapped New York! In June, the Lit Salon welcomes the author of When Women Ran Fifth Avenue: Glamour and Power at the Dawn of American Fashion, Julie Satow.

June 20th – Turn Yourself Into a Hologram at NYU Tandon @ The Yard

See demonstrations of various hi-tech motion capture methods, immerse yourself in new worlds through giant LED screens, learn how technology brings stories to life for theme park rides, and more!

June 22nd – Tour Westbeth Artists Housing, the Former Home of Bell Labs

Join Erin Quinn Purcell, President of The Westbeth Artists Residents Council, for a tour of Westbeth Artists Housing, a multi-building complex that provides dynamic living and working spaces for nearly 400 artists! Take in views of Greenwich Village and the Hudson River from an 11th-floor balcony, learn about the building’s former life as Bell Labs, see an isolated and abandoned piece of the High Line, and explore works by some of Westbeth’s creative residents, like beloved puppeteer Ralph Lee.

June 26th – Just City: The History of Mitchell-Lama Housing on the UWS w/ Jennifer Baum

Join author Jennifer Baum for a virtual talk about her recently released book, Just City: Growing Up on the Upper West Side When Housing Was a Human Right! Uncover the history and influence of the Mitchell-Lama housing program, learn about the evolution of the West Side Urban Renewal Area, discover how the Mitchell-Lama housing program changed the Upper West Side by fostering community, collectivism, and tolerance in brutalist buildings, and examine the flaws in the program.

June 27th – Peter Hujar: Rialto Exhibition Tour at The Ukrainian Museum

Join a private tour of the Ukrainian Museum’s latest exhibition, Peter Hujar: Rialto, led by museum director and curator of the exhibition, Peter Doroshenko! On this tour, guests will view never-before-seen photographs captured by cutting-edge artist Peter Hujar, a leading figure of downtown Manhattan’s counter-culture scene of the 1970’s and 80’s, and hear about the artist’s life from eye-opening personal accounts shared with the curator by Hujar’s friends.
