This week’s #untappedcities Instagram “Pic” of the Week goes to @newyorkcityhistory for this detailed shot (reminiscent of a giant all-seeing eye) of the ceiling in the study of The Morgan Library and Museum located on Madison Avenue at 36th Street.

The Morgan Library in itself is something to behold, treating it as a whole, but there are so many mysteries and extravagant details found everywhere you look. The ceiling in the West Room of the library is one of those treasures within a treasure. The room bore witness to Mr. Morgan’s bailout of the United States in 1907 and is made of antique wood from Florence purchased in pieces by the architect, Charles McKim, and reassembled in New York.
