Sample a diverse selection of coffees sourced from around the globe, then roasted right here in New York City!
From a sleek Icelandic bar with a view of the Northern Lights to a rustic, homey Seattle cafe, there are over a dozen unique styles on display in the 2013 Restaurant Design Award’s People’s Choice Awards hosted by the LA American Institute of Architects chapter. Until noon on June 17, voting is open for the general public to choose its favorite design in three categories: Restaurant, Café/Bar and Lounge/Nightclub.
The sixteen finalists – nine in restaurant, four in café/bar and three in lounge/nightclub – were chosen by writer and editor Margot Dougherty, restaurateur Warner Ebbink and architect George Kelly.
The majority of the contenders are located in southern California, but does include restaurants in San Francisco; DC; Seattle; Portland, ME and Fort Worth, TX. While the award honors US-based projects or designers, the lone international submission comes from Northern Lights Bar in Iceland, designed by LA-based firm Minarc.
The winners of each category will be announced at the RDA awards ceremony on June 22, along with the RDA Jury Award winners.
Our favorites are the Icelandic Northern Lights Bar with unbeatable views; the welcoming, candlelit Eveleigh restaurant in Beverly Hills and the rustic chic Joule Restaurant in Seattle. Check them out for yourself in the gallery below!
