Our partner, Urbanist, who has been making many of our Facebook live videos has a special treat in store for all of our readers. He will be streaming an hour and a half of footage of old New York City from the 1898 courtesy of the Library of Congress starting at 1:30 pm today. Ariel Viera, who runs Urbanist, invites all to “join us we catch a glimpse on how the city looked a century ago and learn the fascinating history of its rapid growth to become one of the greatest cities in the world!”
The above photograph is also from the Library of Congress and though the date is listed as 1905, we have identified that the date to about 1898, when The Moth and Flame played at the Lyceum Theater.
