Webster Hall New Years Eve Ball featuring the largest balloon drop on earth! Emerald Nuts Midnight Run. Costume parade and contest (starting at 11:00 p.m.), and a 15-minute fireworks show as seen on foot. With a countdown to midnight beginning at 11:59 p.m., the 4-mile unscored run will begin on the stroke of midnight, as will a spectacular fireworks display to light up the night and the start of 2014. 72nd Street Transverse in Central Park. $55 members / $60 non-members.

Underground Eats. Come party with Next Iron Chef contestant Jehangir Mehta this New Year’s Eve for a two-faced dining experience with dueling parties in his neighboring East Village restaurants Graffiti and the new, under-the-radar spot Me and You. 9pm – 1am. $200 per person.

Brooklyn

New Year’s Eve at the Montauk Club. This private club where scenes from Boardwalk Empire were filmed is normally members-only, but for one night they’re opening up their doors. There will be live music by the Red Hook Ramblers, cocktails, wine, beer and champagne, hors d’oeuvres, a photo booth and dancing. 9pm – 1am. $100.

The Gemini & Scorpio Bootleggers Ball. The contraband has been ordered, authorities paid off, and performers lined up for a New Year’s Eve speakeasy ball in a 19th century church with soaring ceilings, stained glass windows and wraparound balcony. Expect the intimacy of a daring cabaret mixed with the intrigue of a vintage costumed ball, expansiveness of a warehouse dance party, excitement of live brass, a splash of fine cocktails, and just a dash of illicit adventure and unpredictable moments. 9pm – 5am. $50 in advance / $60 at the door.

BangOn!NYC presents New Year’s Eve 2014: TIME & SPACE. This year’s theme “Time & Space” will be set inside a 60,000 sq ft multi-room arena with 2 main stages of electronic music, custom lighting, and stage design. Featuring illuminated art installations, circus performers flying overhead, Burning Man Art Cars (including Thunder Gumbo), themed lounge areas, food trucks, funky clothing vendors, onsite body painting by Kirkworx Dupuis and Bodyworx.me plus much much more. 9pm – 6am. $60 general admission / $140 VIP.
