In one of the funniest films of all time, Dustin Hoffman is an unemployed actor who finally gets the part of a lifetime… as a female soap opera sensation. TUESDAY, JUNE 18: Atlas Obscura’s Wanderlust School of Transgressive Placemaking. Getting In Is the Easy Part: Site-Specific Experience Design. The June 18th installment will focus on creating unique experiences from the character of a place. Speakers: Nick Fortugno & Jeff Stark. Moderated by Ida C. Benedetto & N.D. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19: HBO and the International Center of Photography present A Different Kind of Order: The ICP Triennial Artist Lecture with A.K. Burns, a multimedia artist/sculptor/videographer and compulsive collaborator who is a founding member of the artists activist group W.A.G.E. THURSDAY, JUNE 20: Crack the Vintners’ Secrets in a Tasting at Chelsea Wine Vault with SideTour. Sample six related wines selected by a connoisseur, and sharpen both your palate and wine IQ in an intimate setting. SATURDAY, JUNE 22: The Big Gay Brunch hosted by Underground Eats, Big Gay Ice Cream & Next Magazine. At the outdoor pool at the new Mercedes Club in Manhattan, some great culinary names will descend to create a Sunday afternoon brunch pool party that benefits The Trevor Project, the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to the LGBT community. 2-6pm at the Mercedes Club, 550 West 54th Street. $90 general admission / $150 VIP. ALSO ON SATURDAY: The Chelsea Music Festival Finale. Music of the Metropolises: from London to Venice via New York. This evening of music pays homage to musical contributions of major cities, tying in the modern era with jazz and New York. SUNDAY, JUNE 23: The New Amsterdam Market opens for the summer season with “The New York Way of Eating,” a special Food History Tour to support the New Amsterdam Market. An estimate 1.5 hour tour will finish with a tour at the New Amsterdam Market and a meet-and-greet with three “Made in New York” vendors.
