Monday, June 23rd

Make your way to Brooklyn Brewery in Greenpoint for “Big Chill,” an event featuring cold bites and colder beers. Menu items include cold borscht shots, chicken liver terrine, and ice cream sandwiches — all paired with Brooklyn Brewery beers and ales. This event is from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and a ticket is required. 

Tuesday, June 24th

Head to the 79th Street Boat Basin on the Upper West Side for the 5th Annual Saveur Barbecue. From 6:30 p.m to 9:30 p.m., enjoy over fifteen tasting stations from some of the country’s best chefs and an open bar serving craft cocktails, wines and beers. This event is 21+  to enter and requires a ticket, so grab yours here for great food, drinks and beautiful views of the Hudson River.

As a part of the River to River Festival, an annual art festival that showcases both well known and breakout artists in New York City, Night at the Museums is an event featuring thirteen museums and historical sites. Wednesday, June 25th

Join George Vecsey, Kevin Baker, Stefan Fatsis, and Lee Gutkind, all contributors to the new anthology, For the Love of Baseball: A Celebration of the Game That Connects Us All as they discuss the role baseball plays in our national identity and collective imagination at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of the City of New York. An RSVP is required for this event and is free for museum members, $12 for students and seniors and $16 for the general public.

Thursday, June 26th

To celebrate the summertime, Local Roots NYC and Mark Dobbie will collaborate for a night of Thai food and fun at 61 Local in Brooklyn. The chef’s multi-course menu will showcase traditional Thai dishes eaten family style with an assortment of seasonal produce to compliment. Head to the Skyscraper Museum from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for Donald Miller’s book talk where he will discuss his novel,

 

Supreme City: How Jazz Age Manhattan Gave Birth to Modern America. His novel follows Manhattan’s modernization and engineering projects like Grand Central Terminal and the Holland Tunnel that helped to shift New York City’s commercial and social centers to Midtown. All guests must RSVP to programs@skyscrapers.org to assure admittance to the event.

Enjoy an evening with photographer Christopher Payne as he joins the New York Obscura Society to discuss photographing America’s architectural ruins and his newest book, North Brother Island: The Last Unknown Places in New York City. This event takes place from 7:30 pm. to 10:00 p.m. at Nowhere Studios and is presented by Atlas Obscura. Click here for more details about the event and tickets for purchase.

Friday, June 27th

Attend a screening of Stations of the Elevated, the first ever film documentation of graffiti, at BAM Harvey Theatre at 8:00 p.m.. In its first screening since the movie was newly restored, learn about the graffiti culture of the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn. Get your tickets for the Opening Night Party; a celebration and gathering to mark the beginning of the annual Harlem Arts Festival with performances by Mad Satta, Emily Braden, Andrew Kaminski Art, Charisa The Violindiva. Head to MIST Harlem on 46 West 116th Street at 7:30 p.m. to kick off a weekend filled with showcases by local performers to inspire the Harlem art community. This year’s festival at Marcus Garvey Park includes activities for kids and families, food, and giveaways with a complete schedule of events available here.

Saturday, June 28th

Enjoy the beach and boardwalk during the Coney Island Reggae Beach Party from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m with an array of ska, rocksteady, dub, dancehall and reggae music throughout the day. This is a free event so put on your dancing shoes, grab your friends or family and head to Coney Island for a day of fun in the sun!

Sunday, June 29th

As a part of New York City Pride 2014, head over to Hudson Street from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for PrideFest! In its 20th year, PrideFest is an annual LGBT street fair that combines vendors, entertainment, and activities in the name of equality. Musical performances by De’borah, Kim Joyce, Garek, and many more will be taking place from 12:30 pm. to 5:00 so don’t miss out on this free event!
