Just because NYC Pride is coming to an end, doesn’t mean that the party has to! Come out to the NYC Pride Ultimate Mega Grand Finale event at Club Element. Powered by Lovergirlnyc, Dreamgyrls Ent and many more, enjoy three levels of nonstop music by DJ Mary Mac, DJ Missy B, DJ Poison Ivy, DJ Kidd Swag. Head down to the West Village for the last night of the 4th annual Blue Note Jazz Fest to hear Argentinean jazz tenor saxophonist and composer, Gato Barbier. Not only will he be having one show but another to follow; the first is at 8:00 p.m. and the second at 10:30 p.m. Click here for more information about Gato Barbier and how to purchase tickets for this event that is bound to bring music to your ears.
As a part of the annual Metropolitan Opera Summer Recital Series, see performances by artists Mary-Jane Lee, Ginger Costa-Jackson, Yunpeng Wang and Dan Saunders at the Crotona Park in the Bronx. Be a part of the Zombie Takeover of Coney Island with the Brooklyn Cyclones when MCU Park hosts the first-ever Zombie Night at the ballpark in conjunction with NYC Zombie Crawl. Zombie themed events will be happening throughout the day including a pre-game “brain” eating contest, a post-game zombie walk around the bases and a Brain Bash at the Beach. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners of the Brain Bash at the Beach competition.
A part of Central Park SummerStage, the Freedom Dance Party is the longest running, weekly, Friday-night party in NYC history. Put on your dancing shoes and head over to Central Park from 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. for a dance party featuring musical performances by Herbert Holler, DJ Cosi and Marc Smooth. This is a free event and patrons will be admitted on a first come first serve basis until the venue is at capacity. Click here for more information.
Make your way to The Iron Horse NYC on 32 Cliff Street for a Fourth of July pig roast! Cliff Street will shut down for the duration of the day and will be transformed into an old fashion celebration with picnic tables, pig roasts and even free hamburgers and hot dogs. This event is in partnership with the Wounded Warrior Fund and donations are encouraged. The Wounded Warrior Fund provides services and programs to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transitioning back to civilian life. This event begins at noon so head downtown for a day filled with good food and celebration!
Head to the Spencer Brownstone Gallery in SoHo to view the exhibit ‘Momentum’ by Spanish artist, Jaime Pitarch. Momentum is an exhibit that showcases ordinary objects that have been reformed and repurposed into pieces of art in unusual and interesting ways. This is a free event and will be the last night that Pitarch’s exhibit will be on display. Click here for more information about the art and artist.
Make your way to the Brooklyn Museum for the last night of the Witness: Art and Civil Rights in the Sixties exhibit; a piece centered around paintings, sculptures, graphics and photography relating to social protest and American race relations in the 1960s. This exhibit is in observance of the fiftieth anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and is in the Robert E. Blum Gallery on the first floor of the museum.
Grab your bikes and helmets and come out to the 7th annual Tour de Queens presented by Jamis bikes! With a brand new route this year beginning in Flushing Meadows Corona Park and spanning through Flushing, Bayside, Whitestone and more, see all that Queens has to offer with this 20 mile ride throughout the borough. Check-in for riders begins at 8:00 a.m. and registration is $15 for Transportation Alternatives members and $20 for non-members.
