Giant Sculptures Made of Canned Food Take Over Brookfield Place in NYC
See icons of the Broadway stage, beloved animated characters, and events from 2024 recreated with canned foods!
Tonight, 432 Park Avenue will open its doors for its first public event ever for the Storefront for Art and Architecture 2015 Spring Benefit, TRANS, an auction and party. Storefront has shared with Untapped Cities photographs from inside the tower, in anticipation of tonight’s event (which will take place in the lobby, but have virtual reality tools to bring the experiences above down to attendees).
Previously, the Rafael Viñoly Architects-designed skyscraper has been newsworthy for being the tallest residential building in New York City (and the Western Hemisphere, but not for long) and for a certain photograph taken atop the construction by urban explorer Demidism in September last year. This first event will transition marks the building’s transition from construction site to active tower.
Get tickets to tonight’s TRANS fundraiser here, which will also honor artist Do Ho Suh and architect Thom Mayne.
Next see the photo by Instagrammer Demidism from Atop 432 Park Construction and track the development of the super tall skyscraper along 57th Street. Get in touch with the author @untappedmich.
