Hear from an author and map designer who has been creating maps of the NYC subway, officially and unofficially, for over forty years!
Exciting news for urban planning nerds! BLDZR: The Gospel According to Moses, a musical about Robert Moses and Jane Jacobs will be showing three times at the Triad Theater on the Upper West Side this fall. As we said about the show preview in April, it’s supremely entertaining. There will be shows on October 20th, 21st and 22nd.
Stylistically, the music is classic rock Broadway and the actor who plays Robert Moses got his start in the original production of RENT. The show is great both for those familiar with the Robert Moses/Jane Jacobs story as well as those who don’t. Here, Jane is rocking a leather jacket, cool hat, and of course, her signature glasses. Other characters include Robert Moses’ wife Vera and a young Nelson D. Rockefeller. To mark the announcement, the musical has released a new video using footage from the preview we attended:
The organizers are calling it a “Showcase Preview Weekend,” meaning it will be more than a reading this time around, but won’t be a full on show with props. The actors will have wireless mics and there will be more movement on stage than the April show. Tickets will be $22.50 in advance, $30 at the door and there is a two drink minimum at the shows. Tickets are available now and read more about the show here.
