Artist Bradley Theodore standing with his painting, which graces the wall on the lower level of 261 Hudson in SoHo
The artist Bradley Theodore, known for his psychedelic portraits of high-profile figures, was commissioned by the real estate development firm, Related, to paint live in the lobby of 261 Hudson in SoHo. Untapped Cities was invited to be present for this festive and colorful event. Below are a few photos of the occasion, which you can scroll through to see the brilliant artist in action!
Mr. Theodore, an internationally known artist, was born in Turks & Caicos. He was chosen as the official artist for the 2016 U.S. Open, and is a virtual reality artist-in-residence for Google. He even has a documentary about him entitled “Becoming: Bradley Theodore,” which premiered at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. GQ Magazine vividly described his work as “Chromatic thunderstorms – at once exhilarating, incontrovertibly powerful and ever so slightly chilling.” Although Mr. Theodore travels extensively, he currently resides in DUMBO.
261 Hudson, designed by critically acclaimed architect Robert A.M. Stern, acquired two Bradley Theodore paintings. One of the paintings graces the wall of the residents’ lounge on a lower level, and the second is a canvas that was painted live, and will remain on the wall in the front lobby of the luxury rental. Be sure to head over there to see the paintings for yourself!
