How to Make a Subway Map with John Tauranac
Hear from an author and map designer who has been creating maps of the NYC subway, officially and unofficially, for over forty years!
This year Paris Design Week will take place September 10-16th. There will be a variety of events everyday all day long ranging from presentations of the new collections to cocktail parties and tastings. Here are some highlights:
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10: La Maison de L’Architecture en île-de-France presents Exposition Identités Remarquables, a collection of sustainable architecture and urban design, and a presentation of the Project Finalists of the Prix Paris Shop & Design from 10am-8pm. La Boutique du Centre Pompidou will host a tasting with chocolate sculptor Patrick Roger from 6-9pm. Jean Nouvel Design will present a dozen projects from 2012 in the showroom from 6-9pm.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11: Avant Scène presents L’Exposition Hubert Le Gall, with new furniture and decorative arts designs from 11am-6:30pm. Publicis Drugstore offers the opportunity to meet Claudio Colucci, who will dedicate his new work Kaleidoscope from 6-7pm. Calligaris will host an opening party with live animations from 6-11pm. Demonstration of Working with Copper by the Atelier des Arts Culinaires from 6:30-9:30pm.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12: Meet the designers of L’Edito and see their new collections over breakfast from 9am-12pm. Book signing and cocktail party hosted by 107Rivoli, the bookstore of Les Arts Décoratifs from 4:30-7pm. Cocktail reception for Solex BHV Vélo from 6-8:30pm.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 13: Diptyque & R’Pure present Le Sablier, a new way of perfuming your home from 10am-5pm. Look to Norway presents Heat Blow Eat performance by Tanja Saeter in which the glass artist will cook seafood on blown glass from 6-6:30, 7-7:30 & 8-8:30. L’Imprimerie will host Paris Design Le Marais from 6-9:30. Jean Nouvel Design’s Spanish Party will celebrate the premiere of the Oxymoron chair from 7-9pm.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14: La Maison du Chocolat will give a guided tour in the presence of the artist Sinan Sigic, founder of Atelier Hapax from 2-6pm. Emanuelle Antille will sign autographs at the Swatch store from 5-5:30pm, followed by a cocktail party until 6:30pm. Galerie Armel Soyer will host a “Green Hour” Absinthe Pernod Party from 6-8pm.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15: Pleyel will open their factory in St. Denis for guided tours from 10am-4pm. Sabine Fillit will give a demonstration of making mosaics with slate at L’Atelier from 2:30-5:30pm.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 16: Discover the flavors of Italy with EMU presenting MIA by Jean Nouvel Design from 6-9pm.
