About the event:

Clement Clarke Moore wrote the poem “Twas The Night Before Christmas” for his children on December 22, 1822 and the following year the poem first appeared in print for the first time. This year marks the bicentennial and the memory of Clement Clarke Moore will be honored by his name being added to the New York State Library Association’s Writers Hall of Fame at a ceremony at the Hoffman Hall of the General Theological Seminary in Chelsea. Moore donated the lands on which both the GTS and the High Line Hotel currently sit.

At this special holiday tour,  historian Pamela McColl, author of a non-fiction account of the poem and the life and times of Clement Clarke Moore, will share her knowledge of the Moores’ connection to Chelsea and their contribution to the area. We’ll meet at the GTS for a private tour of the magnificent chapel of the seminary and to view vintage editions of the classic poem. After getting cozy in the chapel, we’ll take a short walk to Clement C. Moore park and the High Line Hotel. Cocoa and a copy of the special commemorative edition of the poem are included!
