NYPL Treasures Exhibition

Take a curator-led tour of New York Public Library’s new Polonsky Exhibition of The New York Public Library’s  led by Declan Kiely, director of special collections and exhibitions.

  • The Declaration of Independence in Thomas Jefferson’s hand
  • An original copy of the Bill of Rights
  • Manuscripts and typescripts of classic works by Virginia Woolf, Maya Angelou, Malcolm X, and many others
  • A Shakespeare First Folio
  • The original dolls owned by the real-life Christopher Robin that inspired the Winnie The Pooh stories
  • Sheet music from Beethoven and Mozart (and a lock of Beethoven’s hair)
  • Charles Dickens’ writing desk and personal prompt copy of A Christmas Carol (with his notes) that he used for reading

Take a curator-led tour of New York Public Library’s new Polonsky Exhibition of The New York Public Library’s Treasures. The permanent, free exhibition at the Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue will feature over 250 items spanning 4,000 years from the institution’s renowned research collections. The tour will be led by Declan Kiely, director of special collections and exhibitions (who led the curation of the Polonsky Exhibition of The New York Public Library’s Treasures).
