About the event:
Insiders will hear from the very people who helped to create this monumental museum from the forgotten ruins of this once important complex. Attendees will also hear exclusive interviews from artists like JR and the Director of American Family Immigration History Center at the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Stephen Lean as he speaks about the important role Ellis Island played in shaping the culture of our city and our country.
Unforgotten Films was created by New York based artist Aaron Asis in collaboration with Green Ghost Studios and with media support from Untapped New York, funding support from the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs / Brooklyn Arts Council, and founding support from Likeminds to explore a series of inaccessible landscapes throughout New York City.
About the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation
The nonprofit Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation works with the National Park Service to restore and preserve these beloved monuments. Efforts began with the 1980’s centennial restorations of Liberty and Ellis. The Foundation has since created the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration, developed the free 65-million-record Ellis Island Passenger Database, constructed the Statue of Liberty Museum, maintained museum exhibits, and funded hundreds more projects on the islands.
