About the event:

At a time when air travel is at record levels, Vaughn College has more than a 90-year history of generating aviation and engineering professionals. Located right across the street from LaGuardia Airport, Vaughn College is home to a state-of-the-art flight simulator and air traffic control simulator complex, along with historic planes used for training. Participants will get to experience the look and feel of a pilot, tour the College’s aircraft hangar and jet engine lab and learn about the simulator training while discovering an institution that is home to one of the most diverse student populations in the country. Vaughn graduates include pilots, air traffic controllers, airport managers and aeronautical engineers.

About Dr. Sharon DeVivo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vaughn College

Dr. Sharon DeVivo has been with Vaughn College since 1996 and president since 2014. She is the seventh president of the institution and the first woman. Vaughn is ranked number one in the nation in upward mobility moving students from the bottom 40 percent to the top 40 percent in income. Her strategic objective is to transform teaching and learning and create a unique Vaughn academic experience both inside and outside the classroom. She has led two strategic planning efforts that have transformed the College from primarily a training institution to one that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering, technology, management and aviation.
