MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17: Go see Christopher Payne’s exhibition of behind the scenes photographs from the Steinway Factory at Bonni Benrubi Gallery this week because the show ends on Saturday.  41 E 57th Street. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18: Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca. Bessie Award winner Soledad Barrio, heralded by The New York Times as “one of today’s great dancers of any genre”, and her company Noche Flamenca played to sold out houses last year at The Joyce. This season, they return with a New York premiere and a two week engagement, giving audiences even more chances to experience these astounding artists deliver flamenco in its most authentic and glorious form, one that creates fierce and haunting work through the vivid interplay of palmas, song, guitar, and dance. 7:30-9pm at The Joyce. $19-59. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19: Olmstead on Staten Island: The Rural Laboratory at MCNY. Join Alan Brake, executive editor of The Architect’s Newspaper, and other panelists to explore how Olmsted’s time on Staten Island sowed the seeds for the field of American landscape architecture and the magnificent parks he designed for the city.  Presented in conjunction with the new exhibition From Farm to City: Staten Island, 1661-2012. 6:30pm at Museum of the City of New York, 1220 5th Avenue. Also on Wednesday: Edible Brooklyn’s Meet Your Maker is your opportunity to tour the spots behind some of your favorite local treats. For $20 you get a tour of a great local spot, a sampling of some of their food, as well as free Brooklyn beer back at the brewery once you’re finished. THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20: The Moth StorySLAM: Manners. 10 stories, 3 teams of judges, 1 winner. $8 at the door. This event always sells out. Limited seating; please arrive early. 7pm at Housingworks Bookstore Cafe, 126 Crosby Street.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21: Contra + Thomas Lim Omnivore  Dinner. Long time friends, and globe-trotter Jeremiah Stone & Fabian Von Hauske (Contra — soon to open in NYC), invite Thomas Lim (ex-Duke — Sydney, Australia), a young talented chef who’s headed to California for new projects. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22: The Mashable  Social Good Summit is a three-day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions. Held during UN Week from September 22-24, the Social Good Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders to discuss a big idea: the power of innovative thinking and technology to solve our greatest challenges. Also on Saturday: The City Harvest Brooklyn Local Event  at Brooklyn Bridge Park. This fundraising event will host a sampling of the borough’s finest purveyors and feature some of its best gourmet and specialty food items. The Brooklyn Local will offer urban foodies the opportunity to spend the day interacting with vendors while tasting and purchasing their products in an open-air market setting. There will be an artisanal market with over 75 vendor booths, tasting tents with private seating, a happy hour tent, and an interactive kids’ zone. 11am-6pm at Pier 1 at Brooklyn Bridge Park. $10 for individual tickets or $40 for a family. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23: The Municipal Art Society presents  Urban Debate: Atlantic Yards. Atlantic Yards Report watchdog journalist Norman Oder leads a walk around and beyond the controversial Atlantic Yards site, home to the new Barclays Center arena, opening on September 28. While visiting Fort Greene and Prospect Heights, Oder will discuss the history and future of the ambitious project (announced in 2003 and aimed to include 16 towers), the debates over urban design, architecture, public process, and eminent domain, and the challenge of fitting an arena into a site which offers excellent public transit access but also encroaches on an established neighborhood. 11am. $20 / $15 Members.
