Fantastic tour for locals and tourists alike! My 10 year old and I had a fabulous time uncovering the secrets and incredible history of the subway. I’m a native New Yorker and my son is obsessed with the subway and we both learned so much! Our tour guide’s energy and passion were infectious. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, even locals.
The tour was very informational. I learned a lot about the history of the nyc subway, and the unique, preserved architecture and tiling in certain stations that I had never noticed before even after living here for 8 years. The hidden city half station at the end of the tour was pretty cool too.
Great tour for tourists and locals alike Our family (made up of born and raised New Yorkers + family visiting from abroad) enjoyed learning about the history of the subway and art references in various subway stations - we saw details we've missed on our commute. Our guide AJ was extremely knowledgable and friendly!
Great intro to the NY Subway system. The tour guide was knowledgeable and personable; he remembered the names of the people in the tour group. There is a lot of standing around at first, which might be bothersome to some people. The tour also focussed primarily on the part of the subway around City Hall/Chambers Street - I was left wondering what exists in other parts of the system. I knew the City Hall station was off-limits, but the glimpse of it (unfortunately, with the "artistry" of the graffiti artists) was pretty cool.
If you love history and trains- great [email protected] Our tour guide AJ was wonderful. Great tour. Really makes you think about your surroundings more ....things you casually walk by on a daily basis and don't pay attention to. If you like history or trains/subway -DEFINITEL Y take the tour.
Great tour - AJ was informative and knew a lot about the subway. Also great so see some of the hidden gems
Good to know the history Very knowledgeable guide who knew the history of the subway. Managed well despite his audio system not working. Apart from the history, the subway system does not have any attractive features like other city subway systems. It is dated and very hot in the stations. Trains are nice and cool.
We had a great time with Gabby. She shared a ton of interesting facts and history with us. Great story telling. Finally understood why some trains have letters and some have numbers. Definitely walking through the subway now with different eyes. The tour was even longer than expected and our guide showed us how to take the loop and see the old City Hall Station. Can only recommend this tour.
Subway tour Fun, informative and interesting. Our guide was full of fun details and photos - we rode the subway and got to see the closed City Hall stop. Our group was fun and I’d highly recommend doing the tour.
Great Tour Such an interesting tour. Our guide (unfortunately I forgot his name) was great and incredibly knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to know more about the history of one of the oldest subway systems in the country and for transportation buffs.
Must do for transit and history fans There is always something new to learn in NYC and this tour was a great addition. I enjoyed both being outside with a small group (ours was 14) and underground, amid everyday passengers. AJ was full of humor, knowledge, and commentary - very relaxing and social while being informative and engaging. Having ear pieces was clutch as they allowed us to move as a group and not fear we were missing a fun part of the conversation. I also appreciated the visual aids and historical pictures. Not too long or too short but just right at 120 minutes.
Our guide Richard was a great storyteller and knew quite a lot about the subway system. He first gave us a historical overview of the system, then took us down to ride the subway to several stations. He showed us art installations at the stations and even a closed down station. I highly recommend the tour.
Wonderful STAND CLEAR OF THE CLOSING DOORS!
Amazing experience! AJ was a wonderfully educated (and fun!) guide who had us all geeking out on NYC's subway system. As a native New Yorker (who thinks he knows it all, as most of us NY'ers do), he surprised us with tons of cool little known facts that I had no idea I needed to know. Totally recommended!! You will not be disappointed. Robert V.
Great Experience! I've lived in New York for ten years and I was looking to do something fun and different. The experience was a lot of fun and instructive. I got to see the subway in a new way. the tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
The tour was super informative. I had no idea all the intricate details of the subway system from its start to its finish and then some of its demise. Our tour guide was very informative and kept a nice pace within the tour. I really loved that we were provided with an ear piece. Sometimes I go on tours and I struggle to hear the guide. I enjoyed this very much.
