The new exhibition Henry Chalfant: Art vs. Transit, 1977-1987Â at the Bronx Museum shows the striking photography of Henry Chalfant, who documented the street art and urban culture in New York City, perhaps most notably the seminal graffiti artists who took over subway trains as their canvas during the 1970s and '80s.
Photos by Henry Chalfant and Martha Cooper from the 70s and 80s are on exhibit at City Lore. They documented the subculture of the NYC graffiti movement.
We had a chance to chat with Sean Corcoran, who curated the upcoming City As Canvas Graffiti exhibit at The Museum of City of New York.
