The farmers market on Broadway between 114th and 116th streets carries organic milk, eggs, baked goods, poultry, turkey, duck and many other organic vegetables.
Amsterdam Avenue and 67th street: On a dilapidated lot nestled between new and old luxury towers stands one of the last vestiges of what the Lincoln Center area once was in the 1980s and 1990s. Already clad in scaffolding, it is only a matter of time before this structure is converted.

PARK(ing) Day, is coming back September 17th! The concept is simple: turn parking space into public space. It's part political, part environmental, part cultural. And for urban planners and architects, creative too.
These bikes are real (although upon investigation, many ARE missing). The bikes, painted white and chained to street furniture, serve as a memorial to those that have died in cycling accidents in those locations. In June, the city's Sanitation Department announced a plan to remove bikes deemed "derelict" (with missing parts), and even went as far to call them "eyesores."
Untapped New York took a trip to the Empire Diner, a month after it closed. Brooklyn-based writer Amanda Chatel and our photographer for this post reports that it looked "sad and desolate. The boarded up windows made it feel cold and lonely. The liveliness and energy was gone."
Global. Timeless. Placeless. These were the keywords from a publisher who was interested in my photography for the cover of a forthcoming book by architect Jan Gehl.
Nestled between the new W Hotel and an abandoned lot a few blocks south of the World Trade Center, a Neo-gothic building at 103 Greenwich Street has a history as incongruous as its architecture. Now an Irish pub, the building began as the home of Dutch immigrant Ryneer Suydam and his family in 1799.
Recently Untapped discovered this at Bedford Avenue and N.7th in Williamsburg. Looks like something is in the works for 2010!
